Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why should I consider Ascension Leadership Academy?
Your child is unique. He or she may or may not learn like everyone else. At Ascension Leadership Academy, we understand that.

With flexible programs, enrichment opportunities that make learning fun, and virtual options that fit the needs of a changing world, we reach all the goals and requirements of a traditional education in a not-so-traditional environment.
Ascension Leadership Academy features an accredited academic curriculum and a culture of academics and leadership. Students in grades K – 12 learn how to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and leaders in their community. Ascension Leadership Academy holds Cognia accreditation, the highest accreditation standard offered, and follows the Alabama Department of Education’s Courses of Study. This ensures that all school credits transfer to other primary and secondary schools and, upon completing graduation requirements, are accepted by any college or university.

It’s the teachers, the environment, and the enrichment programs that make Ascension Leadership Academy better. Most classes have fewer than 10 students, so the teachers know your child. The level of communication with the family is extraordinary. This makes adjusting to changes in the child’s environment, at home or at school, seamless. And it leads to better outcomes in discipline and academic success.

All of the teachers at the Academy are long-time career teachers with excellent reputations.
  • Who is a good candidate for Ascension Leadership Academy?
Any student who is not living up to his or her potential in a traditional school and could benefit from a more personal approach to his or her education. Any parent who is frustrated with a feeling that their child is not being challenged or could accomplish more in a different school environment.

Our purpose for this ministry is to recognize the potential of each student and to convince them that the only limiting factor to their achievement is their dedication to excel. Our overall purpose is to develop a love for learning in our students because to meet the challenges they will face in their workforce they will have to continue to learn throughout their lives. Paraphrasing Mark Elgart, President and Chief Executive Officer for AdvancED, we are educating students to work in jobs that do not exist and to solve problems that have not been thought of.

You owe it to yourself and to your child to explore the possibilities.

What makes your child different, can make your child a success at Ascension Leadership Academy.
  • Is Ascension accredited?
