Ascension students explore career pathways at Central Alabama Community College

Students in grades 10–12 at Ascension Leadership Academy recently had the opportunity to step into their futures during an educational tour of Central Alabama Community College in Childersburg. The visit gave students an up-close look at a variety of in-demand career and technical programs available through CACC’s dual enrollment opportunities.

During the tour, ALA students explored programs in cosmetology, welding, electrical, machining, and nursing. Knowledgeable instructors welcomed the students and provided detailed explanations of each program, showcasing equipment, classrooms, and hands-on learning environments. Students were able to ask questions, see real-world applications of classroom learning, and gain a better understanding of what postsecondary education and workforce training can look like.

This experience highlights one of Ascension Leadership Academy’s greatest strengths: dual enrollment opportunities that allow students to earn college credit while still in high school. Through partnerships like the one with Central Alabama Community College, ALA students can begin building their college transcripts early – saving time and money while gaining clarity about future career paths. Many Ascension students graduate with significant college credit already earned, and some even complete associate degrees while attending ALA.

At Ascension Leadership Academy, education goes beyond the classroom. Experiences like the CACC tour help students connect their academic studies to real-world careers, empowering them to make informed decisions about their futures.
